The M205 Tripod is used with the M2/M2A1 Heavy Machine Guns and the MK19 Grenade Machine Gun produced to a Government Technical Data Package (TDP).

The M205 is an improved ground mount that replaces the heavier and larger M3 Tripod for ground mounting of the M2/M2A1 .50 Caliber Machine Guns and MK19 Grenade Machine Gun (GMG). An integral T&E mechanism is included as part of the M205 and provides controlled manipulation in both traverse and elevation. The M205’s primary mission is to provide a stable, easy-to-use, mounting platform for the M2/M2A1 and MK19 for delivering controlled, sustained, and accurate fire at extended ranges to support combat operations in offensive and defensive roles.
